About Agree to Agree
Many Americans think of gun violence as too complex an issue to find common ground, but research shows we agree on more than we think. For example, we can all agree that guns should be stored securely, that it’s normal to have conversations about preventing gun violence and that we all have a role to play in keeping young people safe.
To further empower health care professionals and their critical role in reducing firearm injuries and deaths, the Ad Council and the American Medical Association (AMA) developed a site that curates helpful resources. These resources work to support health care professionals in having firearm injury prevention conversations with their patients and make a difference in their communities. This includes access to resources like educational videos, conversation guides, training modules and research articles from credible healthcare systems, associations and universities doing meaningful work in firearm injury prevention.
The "Agree to Agree" campaign originally launched in early 2025 and is focused on reaching distinct audiences starting from a place of common ground. Currently, these audiences include parents and those with children in their lives who have a vested interest in protecting our youth and health care professionals who witness the impact of gun violence firsthand. In the months ahead, the initiative will continue to expand to provide additional resources and tools to reach specific audiences and communities with the goal of comprehensively addressing all forms of gun violence.
“Agree to disagree” is a phrase that ends a conversation. We want to start one.
Our funding partners
This initiative is powered by a coalition of health care and brand partners. Health care professionals are on the front lines of the gun violence epidemic in our country and, as a result, they understand the need to find common ground to save lives. By taking a nonpartisan, research-based approach, health care professionals can normalize these conversations to inspire others to do the same.
